Part Numbers

These settings affect the way part numbers are created for new parts.
They do not affect part numbers for parts already in your database.
Part Number Style

Examples: AX0302PC3-TSOP, MAX7305PD

Part numbers are assigned manually each time a new part is created. Uniqueness is enforced.

Example: 0010317

Part numbers are uniquely assigned as new parts are created.

Examples: 0233-0000317, ADI-0097, XILX-0097

Part numbers are uniquely assigned as new parts are created. Each part number is prefixed with a manufacturer "key" (see below). Each manufacturer has its own sequence.

Examples: 001-0000317, CAP-0097, SW-0097

Part numbers are uniquely assigned as new parts are created. Each part number is prefixed with a parttype "key" (see below). Each parttype has its own sequence.

This is the maximum length of part numbers. If you choose an "autoincrement" style, the part number will be zero-filled to this length.

The next new part number will be assigned this number if you are using autoincrement part numbering.

This optional delimiter character will be added between the prefix and sequence number when generating new part numbers.

Manufacturer Numbers

These settings apply only if you select Autoincrement with Manufacturer Prefix for part numbering.
Manufacturer Sequencing Style

Example: MAX, ADI, A003, 0239

Manufacturer prefixes are assigned manually when a new manufacturer is created. Uniqueness is enforced.

Example: 0239

Manufacturer prefixes are uniquely generated in sequence as new manufacturers are created.

This is the maximum length of manufacturer numbers and only applies when you use manufacturer prefixes with part numbers. If you choose the "autoincrement" style, the manufacturer number will be zero-filled to this length.

The next new manufacturer will be assigned this number if you are using the autoincrement style.

Part Type Numbers

These settings apply only if you select Autoincrement with Parttype Prefix for part numbering.
Parttype Sequencing Style

Example: CAP, SW, R003, 0239

Parttype prefixes are assigned manually when a new parttype is created. Uniqueness is enforced.

Example: 0239

Parttype prefixes are uniquely generated in sequence as new parttypes are created.

This is the maximum length of parttype numbers and only applies when you use parttype prefixes with part numbers. If you choose the "autoincrement" style, the parttype number will be zero-filled to this length.

The next new parttype will be assigned this number if you are using the autoincrement style.
